Watercolor Artist Sandra Morrison to Lead Free Art Demonstration in La Mirada

Local art enthusiasts are invited to a free public art demonstration and general meeting hosted by the Arts Colony of La Mirada on Monday, November 3 at 6:30 PM at the La Mirada Resource Center (13710 La Mirada Blvd).

The featured artist for the evening is Sandra Morrison, an accomplished watercolorist known for her award-winning landscape and seascape paintings. Attendees can bring their own artwork for a friendly competition, enter a raffle to win prizes, and connect with fellow artists over light refreshments.

Morrison holds a BA in Fine Art with an emphasis in Drawing and Painting and has received multiple honors, including First Place in the SOCALPAPA Quick Draw Sea and Sage, Honorable Mention from the Anaheim Art Association, and Best of Show at the Tustin Art League.

The event promises to be an inspiring evening celebrating creativity and community in La Mirada.

La Mirada to Honor Veterans at Annual Ceremony

The community is invited to pay tribute to local veterans at a special Veterans Day ceremony hosted by La Mirada VFW Post 9148. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the La Mirada Civic Center Plaza.

The ceremony will include guest speakers and patriotic presentations to celebrate the service and sacrifice of veterans. Join neighbors and friends in honoring those who have served our nation.

Public Safety Poster Contest Winners
Students Recognized in 2025 La Mirada Public Safety Poster Contest

More than 250 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade participated in the City of La Mirada’s annual Public Safety Poster Contest, promoting safety awareness across local schools. This year’s theme, “Safe Pace,” encouraged students to think creatively about keeping their community safe.

Winners were honored by the La Mirada City Council at City Hall on October 28. Members of the Public Safety and Traffic Commission served as judges, selecting first, second, and third place winners in each grade category.

🏆 Winners included:
K–1st Grade: 1st Place Mia Myint (St. Paul of the Cross)
2nd–3rd Grade: 3rd Place Ava Dahdul (Dulles Elementary)
4th–5th Grade: 1st Place Alexi Vernon Cruz (Beatitudes of Our Lord)
6th–8th Grade: 1st Place Maria Guadalupe Jurado (St. Paul of the Cross)
9th–12th Grade: 1st Place Ava Gonzalez (La Mirada High School)

Winning posters will be displayed at La Mirada City Hall and the La Mirada Library throughout November.
