Demolition Phase of New Development at Old Car Wash Concludes
The former car wash will be demolished to make way for two new restaurant buildings with a total area of 4,425 square feet, each featuring a drive-thru and outdoor dining options. The prospective tenants for these spaces are Yoshinoya and Chipotle. Additionally, the site will feature new sidewalks, enhanced landscaping, and be designed to complement the existing McDonald’s architectural design and layout.
City Services to Continue During Federal Government Shutdown
The federal government has suspended nonessential operations after Congress failed to approve funding before the September 30 deadline. While certain federal programs may face delays or closures—such as national parks or grant reimbursements—essential services like Social Security, Medicare, veterans’ benefits, military operations, and air traffic control will continue.
La Mirada residents can rest assured that City programs and services will remain fully operational. The City functions under its own budget, largely separate from federal funding, and maintains strong financial reserves. Public safety, park programs, community services, and other local operations will continue without disruption.

7 Leaves Opening
Demolition has begun at the former Walgreens on Valley View Avenue and Imperial Highway to make way for a new 7 Leaves Café, which will mirror the modern style of the La Habra location on Euclid Street.
Founded by a group of Vietnamese-American siblings, 7 Leaves Café has become known for its handcrafted coffee, tea, and macaron selections—earning it the nickname “the Asian Starbucks.” The fast-growing chain now operates more than 40 locations across the Southwestern United States, serving over one million drinks each quarter.
