Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are on the scene to assist the Norwalk Station with a shooting death investigation.
The incident, possibly associated with a house party, was reported Sunday, July 13, 2025, at approximately 3:43 a.m., on the 14800 block of Steprock Drive, in the City of La Mirada.
Residents report hearing a commotion and a car speeding away, possibly a gray Honda-type sedan.
A victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. There is some information indicating that there may have been a second victim, but that has not been confirmed. There is no additional information available at this time.

UPDATE 07/13/25 17:45 PT:Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a male adult and the wounding of a second male adult in La Mirada.
Deputies from Norwalk Station responded to the 14800 block of Steprock Drive in La Mirada regarding a gunshot victim call. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies located two male Hispanic adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Investigators learned that the victims had been standing down the street when they witnessed a male Hispanic adult suspect involved in a physical altercation with a female Hispanic adult. The victims intervened to break up the fight. Afterward, as they were walking back to their residence, a vehicle pulled up beside them. The suspect exited the vehicle and fired several rounds, striking both victims.
The first victim, a 34-year-old Hispanic male identified as Joshua Monugian, whose city of residence was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
The second victim, a 51-year-old Hispanic male, was shot in the lower torso. He was transported to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The investigation is ongoing, and currently, there’s no other information available at this time.
The suspect apparently is still outstanding as there is no mention of any arrests
UPDATE 8/20/25: Investigators “have some positive leads, but no arrests have been made at this time,” said Lt. Michael Modica of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Authorities are searching for the driver and passenger who were involved in the fatal shooting in the early morning hours of July 13.
