A Memorial Day Celebration honoring those who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice in America’s Armed Forces will be held on Monday, May 26 at 10 a.m. at Olive Lawn Memorial Park, located at 13926 La Mirada Boulevard.

The service will feature special presentations, a tribute to fallen soldiers, and the symbolic placing of floral wreaths by the City Council, community organizations, and Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary.

The scheduled special guest speaker is former LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva.

Since 1961, the Peebler Family, owners of Olive Lawn, in conjunction with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9148 have hosted an annual public event at the cemetery, reflecting their community commitment. In 2020, the event was significantly scaled back due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This special service is presented by the post, the La Mirada Veterans Coordinating Council, and the City of La Mirada. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, as seating will be limited.

After the ceremony, the public is invited to visit the post to continue the celebration from 12:00-4:00 p.m. The event will feature a book signing by Villanueva, food by Mr. Alberts and live music performed by the Flashback Cowboys.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9148 is located 13932 Valley View Avenue in La Mirada.
