City Adopts Balanced Budget

The La Mirada City Council adopted a balanced budget for the 2025-26 Fiscal Year at its June 24 City Council meeting. The adopted budget maintains the City’s commitment to sound fiscal management while continuing to fund essential services and infrastructure improvements.
General Fund revenues are projected at $53.95 million, with expenditures set at $49.39 million, resulting in an operational surplus of approximately $4.56 million. Public Safety remains the City’s highest priority, with more than $13 million allocated to support law enforcement services, traffic safety, emergency preparedness, and public safety volunteer programs.
The Public Works Department will receive more than $9 million to maintain the City’s streets, parks, sidewalks, and public buildings. The adopted budget also includes $27.44 million in capital improvement funding for projects including the Telegraph Road and Valley View Avenue pavement rehabilitation projects, Behringer Park turf renovation, and upgrades to traffic signals and medians, among others.
The remaining budget includes funding for Community Development, Administration, a wide range of recreation, cultural, and enrichment programs offered through Community Services and a vibrant upcoming season at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.
“The adopted budget continues the City’s practice of prudent fiscal stewardship,” says City Manager Jeff Boynton. “Operations are funded appropriately with additional resources set aside for capital improvements and future needs.”
