“The best part of waking up” is with a cup of coffee. September 29 is national coffee day and I will spill the beans on where to stop and get a great cup of coffee in our neighborhood.

I have passed by Hygge (hue-gah) Coffee several times curious about its origin. The location was obscure yet inside is quaint and inviting. The owners are a retired couple who were watching a Korean show about Hygge. Hygge is a Danish term for feeling cozy and comfortable in your surroundings. They practice this by living simply and creating a relaxed atmosphere around them. He wanted his coffee shop to embody this philosophy. There is a cute shelf with lifestyle books about Hygge and even a record player! Stumptown coffee (well known Portland roaster) is brewed here, which is sourced directly from Oregon. The menu offers a variety of lattes, cold brew on tap and paninis. The peanut butter latte is very popular! If you are in a hygge mood, stop by and enjoy the coffee & ambiance. If you know where Mr.V’s is, then you will find Civitas Coffee nestled in the Roseview Center plaza. Civitas is latin for a sense of community and purpose. Upon entering, you get that feel of community support through the drawings on the wall from local artists. Katherine, the owner, supports small local businesses and sells many of their goods in her shop. Katherine wanted to bring people together through coffee. The coffee beans are sourced locally from Jetty Coffee Roasters, which is a LA coffee roaster. The variety of drinks are endless…the classics, pour over, matcha, cookie butter cream top and a seasonal trio coffee flight! Support, shop and grab a drink. Instagram: @civitascoffeeco

The best part of coffee is simply enjoying it with others and sharing a great experience together.
