Dutch Bros Coffee, the popular drive-thru coffee chain sweeping across Southern California, is set to open a new location at 14840 Beach Blvd. in La Mirada this summer. The company, known for its vibrant energy and loyal following, is excited to join the community. “We’re so stoked that Dutch Bros is coming to the La Mirada community,” the Dutch Bros Press Room announced.
Construction on the new site began in April 2025 and is on track for a summer opening.
Founded in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma in Grants Pass, Oregon, Dutch Bros has grown from a single coffee cart to over 1,000 locations across 18 states. The chain, now headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, added drive-thrus in 1994 and began sourcing beans from Latin American countries like El Salvador, Colombia, and Brazil in 1996. The name “Dutch Bros” pays homage to the brothers’ Dutch heritage and their grandparents.

Southern California alone boasts over 200 Dutch Bros locations across Antelope Valley, Los Angeles County, and Orange County, with one East Coast outpost in Davenport, Florida. The chain’s popularity stems from its fast drive-thrus, friendly staff, customizable drinks, and unique food offerings. The Golden Eagle, an espresso with caramel and vanilla topped with caramel drizzle, is a fan favorite, while the High Dive Lemonade leads the non-caffeinated menu.
However, the new La Mirada location, situated in the compact La Mirada Center at Beach Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue, has sparked concerns among residents and neighboring businesses about potential traffic congestion due to the drive-thru.
Hee Jung Noh, an employee at Wellfit Pilates, noted increased parking lot traffic since construction began. “Many of my customers have had to cancel or reschedule because there’s been no parking since they started building the coffee place,” Noh said.
Lily Kim, an employee from a business near the construction site, welcomes the coffee shop but shares concerns, “I think (a) coffee place with the tables outside is very good, but I think the drive-thru is too much because it will create traffic,” Kim said.
On our Facebook page, Robert Mendez said, “I think the line of cars will be spilling onto Rosecrans (Avenue).”

The La Mirada City Hall’s Building and Planning Department has conducted studies on the potential impact. Lily Navarro from the Planning Department confirmed, “Our studies have shown that the Dutch Bros coffee drive-thru may affect traffic in the surrounding area.”
As La Mirada prepares to welcome Dutch Bros, the city and local businesses are bracing for the changes this popular chain may bring.

DID YOU KNOW: The “La Mirada Center” at Beach/Rosecrans is an obtuse triangle-shaped shopping center located at the northeast corner of the intersection, just within the eastern city limits-adjacent to the City of Fullerton’s extreme western border. The former Polly’s Pies was torn down to make way for Dutch bros. Many culturally-iconic businesses of La Mirada’s past were located in this center including Mario’s Pizza, Johnny’s Speed and Chrome and La Mirada’s “other” Tastee Freez. What businesses do you remember here?
