The La Mirada City Council recognized the Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee Cheer squad
at the April 8 City Council meeting. The squad was recognized for winning the 2025
JAMZ Youth National Championship.

In November 2024, the La Mirada Matadores Youth Football/Cheer Junior Pee Wee
squad competed in a JAMZ Cheer and Dance championship competition held in
Anaheim. At that competition, the Junior Pee Wee squad placed sixth in the 8 to 11 age
division.

The Pee Wee squad’s hard work paid off as they earned enough points to
qualify for the JAMZ Youth Nationals 2025 cheerleading competition.
Members of the Junior Pee Wee Cheer squad maintained a rigorous training regimen in
preparation for the national competition. The JAMZ Youth National 2025 cheerleading
competition was held in Las Vegas over three days in February.

The competition was open to cheer teams of all skill levels and attracted competitors throughout the country.
During the JAMZ Youth Nationals competition, the Junior Pee Wee Cheer squad
competed against eight other cheer squads in their division. These other cheer squads
had prior competition experience and were far more seasoned than La Mirada’s Junior
Pee Wee Cheer squad.

At the competition, the Junior Pee Wee Cheer squad demonstrated extraordinary talent, teamwork and commitment during their routine which featured stunts, tumbling, and dance. The team received no deductions from judges,
meaning the Junior Pee Wee Cheer squad was flawless during its performance. Their
perfect performance earned the cheer squad first place, and they were crowned JAMZ
Youth National Champions in the 8 to 11 age division.

The La Mirada Matadores Youth Football/Cheer Junior Pee Wee Cheer squad is led by
