A fire, seemingly knocked down earlier in the day, reignited Sunday morning causing extensive damage to a residence in the 15000 block of Watkins Drive.

Around 8:35 a.m. we reported the blaze on our X feed after the call came across on dispatch; we also received a tip.

A short time later, the fire was reported knocked down with at least one resident and two dogs saved from the structure.

A little under three hours later at about 11:10 a.m. another call came across reporting a second fire at the same location.

Engine companies from the surrounding area, including Buena Park Fire, responded and arrived to find an attic fire, which was eventually extinguished after a brief battle.

Residents of the home and what appeared to be their immediate family were distraught on the scene. It is unclear if any had returned to the home after the initial blaze. No injuries were reported at this time.

During their aftermath briefing on scene, one of the fireman was overheard giving a possible explanation as to why the fire restarted after it was previously thought to be extinguished saying, "it might have crept through the walls."

As an investigation begins, utility workers along with code enforcement were on scene to determine if the dwelling was habitable.
