Here's how the show is billed: "Set in a northern mining town, against the background of the 1984 miners' strike, Billy Elliot the Musical is the inspirational story of a young boy's struggle against the odds to make his dream come true. Follow Billy's journey as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and community, and changes his life forever. This show contains some mature language."

Billy Elliot will feature musical direction by John Glaudini and choreography by Dana Solimando, with scenic design by Stephen Gifford, lighting design by Steven Young, sound design by Josh Bessom, costume design by Ann Closs-Farley and wig and make-up design by Katie McCoy. Flying sequences are choreographed by Paul Rubin; the props designer is Terry Hanrahan; and the production stage manager is Jill Gold. Casting is by Julia Flores.
