Councilmember Tripp was also an advocate for volunteerism.  She earned two La Mirada Volunteers in Action Awards for Innovative Leadership.  She was actively involved in a number of community organizations and served as a Board Member for Musical Theatre West and the Chamber of Commerce.  She was also a school mentor and Sponsored Youth Coordinator for the La Mirada Kiwanis Club, earning the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District Superintendent's Community Award in 2004.

As a local business owner, Councilmember Tripp supported a strong business climate in La Mirada.  She backed the City's efforts to remain a business-friendly community, and understood the importance of businesses in providing jobs and generating revenues.  During her service on the Council, the City of La Mirada was named a finalist three consecutive years for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation's "Most Business Friendly City" Award.  La Mirada has also been recognized annually as a Low Cost of Doing Business City by the Kosmont-Rose Institute.

In a letter recently submitted to the City Clerk's Office, Councilmember Tripp indicated she and her husband, Rolan, are working on a new business venture that now requires her to spend significant time away from La Mirada.  The Tripps sold the La Mirada Animal Hospital in 1999 after ten years of business ownership to begin providing pet behavior education and services to veterinary hospitals nationwide.

Councilmember Tripp's final City Council meeting will be on June 14, 2011.
