The La Mirada Blog in association with the La Mirada Community Foundation, will host the 6th annual La Mirada Olive Fest on Saturday, September 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at La Mirada Regional Park.
The festival began when a group of La Mirada enthusiasts got together in August 2010 at Regional Park and celebrated living in La Mirada with food, some art and a band playing on the grass. The talk was to bring important cultural and inspirational events, similar to the Fiesta de Artes and Celebration in the Park, back to La Mirada.
Now in its sixth year the free one-day event features live entertainment, a craft fair, local food vendors, a car & motorcycle exhibit, a silent/live auction, raffle prizes, 50/50 contest, art walk, kids activities and many community organizations and local businesses.
The craft fair has been expanded with over 80 vendors expected at this year's event. For booth information contact Diana at olivefest_vendors@hotmail.com. The kids activity area has also been expanded with craft kits donated by the Home Depot in La Mirada.
Now in its fourth year, the Olive Fest Art Walk presented by the Arts Colony of La Mirada, is expanding and this year will feature over 50 exhibitors.
Along with an added silent and live auction this year, Fest organizers have also added a night concert to the already existing live entertainment lineup. "Flashpants" will be featured as the headline band this year, performing from 7:30-9:00 p.m.
New this year is the inaugural La Mirada Olive Fest 5k Run/Walk with proceeds benefiting the La Mirada High School Aquatics and Cross Country programs. The race begins at 9:30 a.m. the morning of the Fest with the course meandering through Regional Park.
