The Public Safety Team will continue to monitor local crime trends and maintain the City's low crime rate through proactive crime prevention efforts and community-based policing. The Public Safety Team encourages all residents and businesses to participate in the Neighborhood Watch Program. In 2014, the Public Safety Team achieved its goal of hosting a Neighborhood Watch meeting in every Reporting District.
"Criminal activity continues to decline in La Mirada, and residents are encouraged to remain proactive by staying on the lookout and immediately reporting any crimes they see," says Sheriff's Los Angeles County Captain Curtis Jensen. "Increasing participation in the Neighborhood Watch program will continue to be a priority as vigilant and informed residents help to decrease crime."
In 2015, the Public Safety Team will continue proactive policing in order to maintain a low crime rate in La Mirada. Probation and parole searches will be conducted to hold offenders accountable and the Team will work with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Parole Compliance Team and the Probation Department. The deployment of deputies will also continue to be monitored in an effort to decrease response times and enhance the quality of law enforcement services.
