Mayor Deal represents the City Council on the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District and serves on the City-School District Committee and the City’s Audit Committee. 

Mayor Pro Tem De Ruse was first elected to the City Council in 2011. He has been a resident of La Mirada since 1976 and works as a senior pastor.


La Mirada City Clerk Anne Haraksin administers the Oath of Office to newly elected City Councilmembers Steve De Ruse, Larry Mowles and Ed Eng.

Prior to serving on the City Council, Mayor Pro Tem De Ruse served on the City’s Community Services and was Chairman from August 2008 through August 2010. Mayor Pro Tem De Ruse also served on the Citizens Task Force on City Finances and Operations from November 2009 to April 2010.

He was also active with the La Mirada Clergy Council and served as President from 2001 to 2005. Mayor Pro Tem De Ruse represents the City on the Southeast Area Social Services Funding Authority (SASSFA) Board of Directors and County Sanitation District No.18 Board.

Also serving on the City Council are Ed Eng, who was elected to his first term on the City Council, Larry Mowles and Andrew Sarega. De Ruse, Eng and Mowles were sworn in to serve four-year terms on the Council after receiving the most votes in the March 3 election. This will be the second term of office for De Ruse and Mowles.

Ed Eng is an Executive Director for the Los Angeles County Economy and Efficiencies Commission and has been a member of the City’s Community Services Commission since 2011. He also has been active in a number of community, business and educational organizations.

Mayor Pauline Deal, Mayor Pro Tem Steve De Ruse and Councilmembers Eng, Mowles, and Sarega comprise the 2015 La Mirada City Council.
