The “Clothes for Kids” shopping event honors the memory of local businesswoman Eileen Wade, who championed Rotary’s efforts to help children for many years.

Donations for the “Clothes for Kids” shopping event may be brought to meetings of the Rotary Club of La Mirada at its Wednesday luncheon at 12:30 p.m. at the Elephant Bar Restaurant, 14303 E. Firestone Blvd. in La Mirada. Donations may also be mailed to the Rotary Club of La Mirada at P.O. Box 248, La Mirada, CA 90637-0248.
Sponsorships Available for Kiwanis Shopping Spree
The Annual Kiwanis Shopping Spree for Needy Children will take place this year on Thursday, December 10th, 2015. This is a community project hosted by the La Mirada Kiwanis Club to give comfort and joy to 50 children in need during this holiday season.
Those children in need are selected by the principals from the public elementary schools in the city of La Mirada. The needy children will each receive a $100 gift certificate to shop at Sears, located at the Whittwood Town Center and breakfast at Ruby's Diner immediately following the shopping spree. Every needy child will be accompanied by a personal chaperon assigned by Kiwanis for his/her shopping experience.

Those groups, businesses, and individuals who make a $100 sponsorship donation will receive special recognition at this event.
Rotary Helps With Maddi’s Fundraiser
From Maddi’s Closet recognized promiment health care professionals at its annual dinner at the Friendly Hills Country Club on November 13th including Girish Dhall, M.D., Children’s Hospital Los Angeles; Leonard Sender, M.D., Children’s Hospital Orange County; Tom Belle Davidson, M.D., UCLA Medical Center; Anna Evans, CPNP, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles; and Karla Garcia, LCSW, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The award recognizes health care professionals for their collaborative efforts to solve the mysteries of children’s cancer and to help children battle the disease.
Members of The Rose Kids stole the show as they performed songs from the musical Annie to help raise funds for the fight against children's cancer at the annual benefit dinner for From Maddi's Closet.
Whittier Mayor Fernando Dutra presented a commendation saluting From Maddi’s Closet for the non-profit organization's efforts to fight children’s cancer at the event attended by more than 150 people at the Friendly Hills Country Club.

Rotary District Governor Kevin Padilla presented a gift to La Mirada Rotary Club President Russell Hall during his recent visit to the La Mirada Club. Padilla complimented La Mirada Rotarians on the many projects the club is doing to benefit the local community.

Kiwanis Club of La Mirada meets at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Sugar and Spice Bakery & Deli, 12240 La Mirada Blvd. in La Mirada. The club also has an evening group that meets the first Thursday of the month at the La Mirada Volunteer Center located 11900 La Mirada Boulevard in La Mirada.
