La Mirada High School held the official groundbreaking for its baseball & softball fields recently, officially opening the construction of the long-awaited project.
This will be the second construction project on the La Mirada High School campus as the new stadium to house the football and track & field teams is also under construction.
Funded by Measure G, the $375-million dollar education bond, the project would bring about a host of new facilities for use by the Matadores’ baseball and softball teams as well as the greater student body and community.
In a statement, the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District said the Measure G bond continues to supply funding aimed at improving and modernizing facilities to further provide a high-quality experience for students in and out of the classroom.
The scope of work includes a new baseball stadium with concessions building, team rooms, and ancillary facilities; new softball stadium with concessions building, team rooms, and ancillary facilities and practice fields for baseball and softball.
Additionally, new soccer field which will double as a football practice field, along with five new basketball courts; four new volleyball courts; and competitive tennis facilities with six new tennis courts.
Also, a new campus-wide fence will enclose the entire site and extensive landscape and hardscape will be installed throughout the school grounds.
