When we asked Boynton why the group is reforming, Boynton told us one reason is the change of leader ship in the community including new principals at the high school and middle schools, a new school district superintendent and a new lieutenant serving La Mirada along with other Sheriff’s personnel new to their positions.

Boynton said in a statement to the LMB, “The Task Force could be helpful for building positive community relationships and can be effective in developing strategies for addressing issues involving youths; including school attendance, vandalism along with gang and drug concerns.”

We asked Boynton about the timing of the regrouping and if it is tied to any recent trends in criminal activity, “The reconvening of the Task Force is not tied directly to any specific incident, but rather a positive step to further improving public safety in the community.”

We will have more information and details as to the different roles the members of the group will play, as the story develops.
