The Curse of the Raven returns for a fourth year with opening night on October 21st inspired by La Mirada residents Robert and Kristy, both former Knott's Halloween Haunt employees.
The home haunt will be open nightly 7:00-10:00 p.m. through Halloween Night with scare actors on Saturdays, located at 4682 Stanton Avenue in La Mirada.
Please respect the neighborhood by being courteous including any unnecessary or excessive noise.

Another Train Incident Plagues Infamous Crossing
A train apparently collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue at Marquardt Avenue early this morning, although not officially confirmed.
The incident was first reported to us from one of our Instagram followers at 2:29 a.m. (more)
Suspect Wanted for Stabbing Death in Unincorporated Whittier Arrested
The suspect wanted for the fatal stabbing and an additional attack in unincorporated Whittier this past Tuesday was arrested for burglary and murder this morning by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department personnel.
84-year old Rolland Alexander was stabbed to death in his home in the 15300 block of Goodhue Avenue.
Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators have been working around the clock since learning of the incident on Tuesday according to a written statement. (more)

City Council reorganization features a refreshing change
The La Mirada City Council conducted its annual reorganization last month selecting Steve De Ruse as Mayor for the 2023-24 term.
Councilmember Andrew Sarega was selected to serve as Mayor Pro Tem in a 4-0 vote with Councilman John Lewis abstaining.
It seems as if everyone is beginning to get warm and fuzzy all over as this may indicate an end to the 10-year contentious era in which Sarega was passed over twice when it was his “turn,” which had been the traditional way La Mirada had always chosen their next Mayor and Pro Tems. (more)
La Mirada Independence Celebration
Celebrate our nation with family, friends, and the community at La Mirada's Independence Celebration event held on Monday, July 3 at La Mirada Regional Park, located at 13701 Adelfa Drive.
The traditional event, which dates back to the 1970's, will feature live entertainment, games and activities for children of all ages and a patriotic program. Various vendors and non-profit organizations will have food and drinks available for purchase. (more)
La Mirada’s De Leo winner of AHL Man of the Year award
The San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League recently announced that Chase De Leo has been named the team’s winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the San Diego community during the 2022-23 season.
De Leo, 27, volunteered and participated in a plethora of charitable endeavors this season, including the team’s Rady Children’s Rink visit – an event raising funds for the local Rady Children’s Hospital to help improve the health of young patients. San Diego’s captain also volunteered his time to participate in grassroots efforts to promote health, wellness and the sport of hockey in the San Diego community, joining the Jr. Gulls 10-and-under and 12-and-under teams for a practice at THE RINKS – POWAY Ice. Yoshiharu launches new restaurant concept in La Mirada
Eatery will offer new later-night dining and expanded menu
US-based restaurant operator Yoshiharu Global is set to launch its new concept called Yoshiharu Ramen & Izakaya, at its current La Mirada location.
The operator, known for Japanese ramen, made a soft launch of the new concept on April 7th and will make a grand opening this Friday April 14th.
Tucked away in the Stater Bros. shopping center at 12806 La Mirada Boulevard, Yoshiharu Ramen & Izakaya will offer a wide array of menu options to its guests including their signature ramen dishes, as well as a brand-new selection of Izakaya dishes. (more)

The rain has parted and family and friends are invited to join the City of La Mirada’s annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. at La Mirada Regional Park. Families will enjoy a variety of fun-filled activities including crafts, games, music and of course, photos with the Easter Bunny. (more)
Groundbreaking held at La Mirada High for new athletic facilities
La Mirada High School held the official groundbreaking for its baseball & softball fields recently, officially opening the construction of the long-awaited project.
This will be the second construction project on the La Mirada High School campus as the new stadium to house the football and track & field teams is also under construction (more).
