Whittier~Whittier's ever-popular Summer Concerts in the Park will begin in July. A wonderful variety of musical entertainment, designed to appeal to all ages and musical tastes, is scheduled to begin Monday, July 6.
Concerts will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, July 6 through August 10 at Central Park, corner of Washington Avenue and Bailey Street in Uptown Whittier and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 9 through August 13 at Parnell Park, 15390 Lambert Road.
The free concerts are sponsored by the Whittier Cultural Arts and Parks and Recreation commissions, Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. Seating is festival-style and concertgoers may bring lawn chairs or blankets for comfort while they enjoy music under the stars. This year's concert schedule includes returning favorites, as well as several new acts.
"This year's summer concerts truly offer something for everyone," said Fran Shields, Director of Community Services. "Don't let this summer pass by without spending an evening picnicking in the park with family and friends while listening to quality musical entertainment. Better yet, don't worry about dinner. Enjoy the variety of freshly-cooked food, including desserts, on sale by food vendors at the park."
