Norwalk~With surprise winner from four yours ago John Johnson deciding not to run again, this ensures the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District Board of Education will have at least one new member.

But does anyone really care? Traditional voter turnout seems to indicate no, but what's more important than our schools? Is it the nine percent of people that vote, who do all the moaning and groaning between elections; saying we have a lethargic school system?

Actually, it is almost a lame duck position. What can one person do to make a difference in a entrenched machine? Name one achievement by any individual school board member over the last ten years. What has Karen Morrison, Lorraine Neal, Pauline Deal, or Ed Hengler done individually, that stands out, over this last two years? Everything is collaborative.

It is a system that needs fixing. And, anyone with common sense knows, as is the case with City Council's as well, staff & administration does all the work.

Just get in, do nothing, collect tax-payer funded paychecks, grow tax-payer bloated pensions, and attend meetings and football games. Sounds like a good gig.

Yes, it is important to vote, yes the School Board should be important, but in reality, is the position really relevant at all? I 'm waiting for someone to prove me wrong.

I have lived in this School District my whole life.I have been part of this community my whole life. I attended all NLMUSD schools as a child, and this is how I see the election on November 3rd. There are four spots up for grabs, I can only endorse three. So be it:

And for the record, I really am not concerned if anyone cares about my endorsements or not.

Vote for!

Darryl Adams: Board needs the stability that Darryl provides.

Chris Pflanzer: Truly cares about the community. Has a vested interest, with children in the district.

Jesse Urquidi: Involved, informed and refreshing.

Ed Hengler: Needs to go. Reminds me of someone who is in it for the $. Showboats to much at meetings. Absence at Candidates Forum inexcusable.

Ana Valencia: Nice lady, but career politician. Mind never seems to be in the game; perhaps thinking about her next political stepping stone.

Margarita Rios: Seems very nice for the future, but still green. Seems genuine with her ideas. She is a LAUSD police officer, not a real police officer, ballot misleading, big difference!
